Job Summary

Job Title: Meat Clerk - Nights

Reports To: Meat Manager

Maintains stock levels within the Meat Department's sales floor by replenishing products as needed. Provides exceptional service to all guests both behind the service counter and on the sales floor, following the boomerang theory.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist guests in finding items on or off the sales floor
  • Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests
  • Provide excellent guest service by professionally answering department calls and assisting on the sales floor
  • Support team members and foster a positive culture within the Meat Department
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues using the boomerang principle
  • Ensure high-quality standards through inspection, rotation, proper temperature maintenance, and replenishment of meat products
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of department supplies (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)
  • Follow food safety procedures and keep relevant logs, setting an example for others
  • Meet quality standards, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
  • Maintain regular and timely attendance, providing notice for absences and arranging replacements as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective tactful communication with customers and staff
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of handling a diverse team in a high-stress environment
  • Understanding of safety policies and ability to apply safety training to recognize hazards
  • Knowledge of equipment and procedures such as slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
  • Full upper body mobility
  • Occasional lifting up to 80 pounds
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures in freezers, coolers, kitchens, and sales floors
  • Repetitive hand and wrist motions
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

WORK SCHEDULE

This position can be part-time or full-time, with shifts that include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
