Our Morris Plains, NJ Store is seeking a PT Meat Clerk for its busy department. We also work weekends to take care of our customers, so bring your customer service skills and join our team today. Butchering skills are not needed but will be welcomed!

Our Meat Clerks provide assistance to customers by offering excellent customer service and helping with their shopping needs in the Meat Department. Responsibilities include receiving and unpacking meat, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces, and following company guidelines within the Meat Department.

Responsibilities

1. Assist customers by answering questions about meats and poultry, and make food recommendations as requested.
2. Weigh, package, wrap, label, and assist in packaging freshly cut meats and poultry, including grinding hamburger meat.
3. Inspect and store meat upon delivery, ensuring quality standards are met.
4. Ensure meat cases are fully stocked, rotate meats by expiration date, and dispose of damaged or expired products following guidelines.
5. Receive and unpack meat and poultry in the cooler and freezer.
6. Clean and sanitize all equipment, display fixtures, and areas within the meat department.
7. Maintain store policies and procedures.
8. Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in other departments as needed.
9. Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.

Requirements

1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. Previous experience in a Meat Department handling fresh meat.
3. Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines is preferred.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent customer service.
5. Availability to work all shifts as scheduled.
6. Ability to speak, read, and communicate in English.

Working Conditions

• Mostly moving about on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• May lift objects up to 30 pounds; heavier objects with assistance.
• Indoor environment with moving machinery and loud equipment, possible temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers.
• Occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects, and industrial equipment.

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: $16 - $18 Hourly
