Job summary

RigUp in Texas is seeking a qualified Measurement and Electrical Technician to ensure safe, efficient operation of critical field infrastructure. You will perform testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of meters, regulators, valves, RTUs, and gas analyzers across outdoor sites.

The role requires an Associate degree or equivalent, a valid CDL, and ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying weather. You will collaborate with contractors, document procedures, and uphold SOPs and safety programs.

Responsibilities

  • Test, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot meters, regulators, valves, RTUs, and gas analyzers.
  • Maintain odorizer injections and document usage and concentration levels.
  • Operate power supplies, inline heaters, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Identify pipes and fittings; install small-diameter instrument piping.
  • Calibrate instruments to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Draft gas handling procedures and prepare operational reports.
  • Respond to abnormal operations and escalate safety risks per protocols.
  • Provide guidance to contractors and junior staff during measurements.
  • Assist with work planning, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Participate in safety programs and comply with O&M manuals.

Job description

We are seeking a qualified Measurement and Electrical Technician to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of critical field infrastructure. This position plays a vital role in executing routine maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of measurement devices, control systems, and regulatory equipment. Operating with a high degree of independence, the successful candidate will maintain operational integrity while strictly adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory mandates.

Core Responsibilities
  • Execute the testing, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of meters, pressure regulators, control valves, relief valves, pneumatic control devices, RTUs, EGM systems, and gas analyzers.
  • Perform routine maintenance on odorizers, including setting injection rates and documenting usage and concentration levels.
  • Operate and maintain power supply systems, in-line heaters, and related facility infrastructure.
  • Identify pipe, valves, and fittings using precise measurement devices and install small-diameter instrument piping and tubing.
  • Utilize specialized test and inspection equipment to calibrate and verify instruments, ensuring electrical installations strictly comply with applicable codes and regulatory standards.
  • Draft formal gas handling procedures and complete detailed operational reports accurately and promptly.
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal operational conditions, escalating or mitigating risks in accordance with established safety protocols.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and junior personnel during routine measurement activities as required.
  • Contribute to work planning, budget-related information gathering, and cross-functional operations across electrical controls, mechanical maintenance, and telecommunications tasks.
  • Maintain active participation in corporate safety programs and ensure full compliance with internal O&M manuals and external governing bodies.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a technical field, or a High School Diploma/GED combined with a minimum of two (2) years of directly relevant operational training and experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) maintained throughout employment.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in field measurement, electrical systems, and routine facility maintenance.
  • Proven knowledge of regulatory standards, safety policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in standard office software applications.
  • Ability to satisfy physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs, navigating uneven terrain, working at heights, and executing tasks in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced technical understanding of measurement and electrical technician functions in gas infrastructure environments.
  • Proven track record of operating with significant independence while supporting team-oriented initiatives.
  • Location: Field-based (Primary outdoor responsibilities with routine indoor documentation and administrative duties).
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (8 hours/day, 5 days/week).
  • Work Status: On-site. Must reside within or relocate to within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location.
  • Operational Requirements: Candidates must be available to work overtime, weekends, rotational shifts, on-call/standby duty, and overnight travel as required.
  • Compensation Note: Fully provisioned role; no per diem or mileage reimbursement provided.
