Job summary

Iron County's Council on Aging (COA) Meals on Wheels program seeks a delivery driver to serve Cedar City and Parowan. You will drive pre-scheduled routes, load meals, deliver to homebound seniors, and maintain orderly records.

This part-time role averages about 20 hours per week and pays $17.39 per hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Utah driver license, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Drives assigned Meals on Wheels vehicle during pre-scheduled routes,
• Loads meals from the COA center into vehicle, transporting, and delivering meals to designated sites,
• Maintain a polite and professional disposition,
• Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up-to-date on road conditions,
• Adjust routes, as necessary, when affected by traffic, weather, or emergency conditions,
• Follows all policies and procedures as established by COA and Iron County,
• Performs basic maintenance and safety checks of assigned Meals on Wheels vehicle,
• Maintains proper fuel and other fluid levels, tire air pressure, and cleaning of vehicle,
• Maintains various travel and delivery records,
• Maintains various required records of daily routes, meal delivery clientele names, designated stops, and other information, and
• Other duties as assigned and/or required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, and
• Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit upon hire.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and thorough background screen.

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements:

• Must possess and maintain valid Utah Driver's License,
• Must maintain compliance of Iron County Vehicle Policy – including maintaining an acceptable driving record,
• Attend any required training when needed and/or scheduled,
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check, and
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and maintain compliance of Iron County drug and alcohol policies and guidelines.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Hourly wage: $17.39

Provides meals via provided delivery vehicles to homebound seniors within the Iron County area for the Council on Aging (COA) Meals on Wheels program. Will work in both Cedar City and Parowan areas, approximately 20 hours per week.
