Job summary

Beachwood Post Acute & Rehab seeks an MDS Assistant-LVN to support the medical records and Health Information Management functions in our Santa Monica facility. You will follow scheduling, file and organize charts, and assist in recording incidents, while maintaining privacy and compliance with OBRA and HIPAA guidelines.

You will also assist in coordinating assessments, indexing records, retrieving information, and providing timely documentation to physicians and staff.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and health information privacy.
• On the job training provided in medical record procedures.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Organize and direct the medical records department in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Assist in scheduling assessments in accordance with OBRA guidelines.
• Maintain privacy and proper handling of resident charts and records.
• Index, file, and retrieve records; collect and assemble charts.
• Answer inquiries and retrieve information as authorized.
