Job summary

Good Samaritan in Elk Horn, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care for residents in a not-for-profit setting with a Christian environment. This role requires RN licensure in the state and RAC-CT certification within 6 months of hire.

The nurse will perform MDS duties, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate with physicians. The position is full-time, day shifts, within the Salem Lutheran Homes & Rehab location.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; RAC-CT certification within 6 months of hire.
• Strong communication and basic nursing skills; knowledge of RAI/MDS.

Responsibilities

• Care for assigned residents in a safe, respectful manner in accordance with location standards and individual care plans.
• Complete the nursing portion of MDS and sign forms to signify completion.
• Maintain residents' privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of information; ensure safe, pleasant living areas.
• Communicate with physicians using center/campus systems and support staff education on RAIs and MDS.

Job Responsibilities

This position provides care to assigned residents in a caring, safe and efficient manner and is responsible to perform the following according to location standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans. Completes the assigned portions of the MDS for Nursing. Signs the MDS forms to signify completion of the process. Maintains residents’ self-esteem, privacy and confidentiality of personal information. Assists to maintain safe, pleasant, orderly resident living areas. Completes nursing portion of MDS and reviews for completion and validity of entire process. Queries other members for accuracy of MDS; and provides final quality check prior to MDS transmission. Receives and shares information. Observes and reports residents’ conditions. Communicates with physicians using center/campus systems. Directs and assists with co-worker, resident, family/significant other education. Provides support and recognition to co-workers related to completion of the RAI / MDS process. Uses the EMR accurately.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN nursing licensure for state of practice is required. Must be certified through AANAC as a Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CT) within 6 month of hire.

Ability to communicate and comprehend.

Knowledge of the RAI/ MDS process; knowledge of basic nursing skills.
