Job summary

The McKinney-Vento Program Assistant supports students and families experiencing homelessness by connecting them with school and community resources that promote educational stability, attendance, engagement, and academic success.

Working collaboratively with district staff, schools, and community partners, this position provides direct family support, assists with program implementation, maintains confidential records, and supports compliance with McKinney-Vento program requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of effective communication and family engagement practices.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
• Valid Alaska driver's license and ability to travel throughout the district.

Job Summary:

The McKinney-Vento Program Assistant supports students and families experiencing homelessness by connecting them with school and community resources that promote educational stability, attendance, engagement, and academic success. Working collaboratively with district staff, schools, and community partners, this position provides direct family support, assists with program implementation, maintains confidential records, and supports compliance with McKinney-Vento program requirements.

New Hire Hourly Rate:

Grade 7: $23.15 - $25.90 DOE

Internal Hourly Rate:

Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement

Work Hours:

3.5 hours

Work Year:

10 months

Bargaining unit:

Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

1. Associate degree or a minimum of 48 college credits.


2. One year of experience working with students or families in education, social services, or a related field.


3. Knowledge of effective communication and family engagement practices.


4. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.


5. Experience maintaining confidential information.


6. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.


7. Valid Alaska driver's license and ability to travel throughout the district.
