Job summary

Pogue Construction seeks an experienced Assistant Superintendent to lead on commercial construction sites in Texas. You will work directly with the Project Manager, applying your knowledge of plans and specs to manage preconstruction activities and execution, including scheduling updates and daily reports.

Responsibilities include coordinating with subs, maintaining project timelines, ensuring safety, and tracking subcontractor performance.

• Strong leadership and proactive problem solving.
• Effective communication with subs and project team.
• Knowledge of construction sequencing and scheduling.
• Familiarity with PlanGrid and submittal tracking.

• Maintain and update Project Schedule and daily reports.
• Host preconstruction meetings with subs and ensure compliance with plans.
• Monitor materials delivery and subcontractor performance.
• Oversee SWPPP operations and safety guidelines.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and Superintendent team.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ultimate responsibility of construction
• Work directly with Project Manager
• Expert knowledge of assigned plans and specs
• Participate in assigned project’s pre-construction phase, advising on all constructability issues
• Host mandatory preconstruction meetings with every sub prior to the start date
• Understand, implement & uphold Pogue procedures and processes
• Maintain and update Project Schedule
• Prepare updated schedule to present at every sub meeting
• Create and develop short term construction schedule
• Complete, retain & maintain Daily Reports in the W:// Drive and project software
• Properly document project and Sub-Contractor performance
• Monitor and ensure delivery of project materials
• Host weekly Sub-Contractor meeting
• Maintain a clean/presentable construction trailer and job-site
• Follow and enforce all safety guidelines to ensure a safe jobsite
• Ensure that all punch list and procedures are followed (sub, architect, owner and MEP punch lists)
• Oversee SWPPP operations
• Train Assistant Superintendent or other assigned staff
• Key Relationship-holder with District & Architect
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPECTATIONS:

• Start and finish your job with excellence

• Working knowledge of all trades
• Know your project’s “construction sequence” while positioning your job “ahead of schedule”
• Use submittal tracking software and logs
• Utilize Plan Grid Software
• Communication skills to proactively contact subs (material delivery & manpower)
• Forward thinker – be proactive solution-finder
• Open, honest, and frequent communication with both General Superintendent and Project Management Team
• Minimum 20 hours of Continued Education (yearly)
• Internal and external customer service

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• 2-5 years serving as an Assistant Super on commercial construction sites
