WHO YOU ARE

Our Maintenance Technician on 1st shift (Mon‑Fri, 6am‑2:30pm) is a skilled position responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe and electrical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with daily start‑up operations.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance technicians to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery; change saw blades, dowel knives, and chipper knives.
  • Learn to install and repair electrical apparatus such as transformers and wiring, and electrical components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
  • Repair and maintain physical structure of buildings; fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Work and communicate in a professional manner with all business associates.
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures, including wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all policies and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out certification.
  • Pass and maintain current industrial forklift & man lift certifications.
  • Knowledge of personal protective equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands include standing on concrete floor with or without floor mats, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms (which may include above and/or below shoulders), bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is required to use left and/or right hand for simple grasping, fine work, pushing/pulling and fast paced assembly. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, and must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work environment characteristics include exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places and vibration, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and moderate to loud noise level.
