Job summary

Grand Villa of Port Charlotte is seeking a compassionate Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of our residents. You will design and lead engaging programs that promote physical activity, social interaction, and cognitive engagement through music, crafts, and games.

Join a supportive team dedicated to high-quality senior care. A background check is required by Florida law; a high school diploma is required, and certifications in recreational therapy are a plus.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging activities that promote cognitive stimulation and physical activity for seniors
• Incorporate music, games, arts, and crafts into daily programming to enhance residents' well-being and quality of life
• Assess residents' interests and abilities to tailor activities that meet their individual needs
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants
• Collaborate with staff and family members to ensure activities align with residents' care plans
• Maintain activity supplies and ensure the safety of all participants during activities

Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with seniors, especially those with cognitive limitations, is preferred
• Strong knowledge of activity planning, including music therapy, arts and crafts, and recreational games
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about making a difference in seniors' lives
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to residents' changing needs
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in recreational therapy or related fields are a plus
