Job summary

Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems invites applications for a MBSE Systems Engineer (Engineer or Principal Engineer) in Melbourne, FL. The role involves performing system engineering activities across the product lifecycle, including use‑case development, system integration, and verification, and coordinating with Agile Release Trains (ARTs) on Jira.

Responsibilities
  • Perform system engineering activities for all levels of a total system product, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Develop use cases and prepare systems engineering artifacts, including the definition of Features and Subsystem Features for program ARTs.
  • Communicate Features and Subsystem Features relationships to customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
  • Perform systems integration and verification for total systems.
  • Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software features.
  • Support Feature Definition, management, analysis, and traceability to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into Features and allocate them to lower levels.
  • Coordinate with ARTs to ensure full decomposition of Features.
  • Define and execute overall system verification plans and associated products for FCA.
  • Coordinate verification activities with ARTs to ensure proper verification roll‑up.
  • Manage overall verification products in support of system sell‑off.
  • Utilize an agile approach and Jira to track work progress.
Basic Qualifications
  • Engineer Level: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant military or professional experience, or Master’s degree in a STEM field and some relevant military, professional, or academic experience.
  • Principal Engineer Level: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant military or professional experience, or Master’s degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of relevant military or professional experience, or PhD and at least 1 year of relevant military, professional, or academic experience.
  • Both Levels: Active U.S. Government Secret or higher clearance (background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently under Continuous Evaluation), and ability to obtain additional Special Access Program (SAP) clearance before the start date.
  • Experience with MBSE/SysML modeling, using Rhapsody, Cameo, or a comparable modeling tool.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with training systems.
  • Understanding of the training system lifecycle.
  • Experience with aircrew simulator design and development.
