Job summary

Soluna is seeking an MBA Intern in Development & Strategy to help screen leads, run quick economic checks, and produce concise recommendations on which opportunities deserve full due diligence.

The role operates on a small, high-ownership team, with direct exposure to senior leadership and a chance to influence where Soluna builds next. You’ll apply rigorous Excel modeling, data-driven judgment, and clear written briefings to move opportunities through a disciplined screening process.

Qualifications

• MBA student with expected graduation after the internship period.
• Strong Excel modeling skills.
• Demonstrated analytical judgment and ability to state what is not known.
• Clear, concise written communication for one-page briefs.
• Genuine interest in energy and digital infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Run inbound and sourced leads through Soluna's qualification framework and assess power costs, interconnection, land, fiber and water.
• Produce a standard one-page qualification summary for each lead.
• Recommend advance, park, or pass with clearly written reasoning.
• Maintain the lead intake queue for the team.
• Build first-pass economic screens including cost of power, capacity sizing, and indicative capex.
• Run sensitivities on key variables that move the answer.
• Pressure-test counterparty assumptions against market data.
• Keep the screening model clean and reusable for future use.
• Track opportunities across ERCOT, SPP, MISO, and PJM.
• Update pipeline tracker and executive summary for leadership.
• Research markets, utilities, or counterparties on demand.
• Present a summer project to senior leadership with a durable improvement.
