Mathematics Teacher
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas, and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in solving practical problems.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Develop and administer a mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into engaging learning experiences that challenge students and utilize available time effectively.
- Teach knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real and imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations, and geometry, while promoting creative thinking and analysis.
- Design learning activities demonstrating the application of mathematics to everyday life and problem-solving.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning, modify instructional methods to meet individual needs, and conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Maintain familiarity with district and Connecticut State standardized tests to adapt curriculum for maximum student achievement.
- Engage in professional development by attending seminars, workshops, or conducting research to stay current in educational practices.
- Organize and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student achievement, complying with district procedures and legal requirements.
- Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct aligns with school standards and policies, establishing a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues, especially within grade levels, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select, requisition, and maintain instructional supplies and equipment, maintaining inventory records.
Additional Duties
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.

Travel Requirements
Travel to district buildings and professional meetings as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of various mathematical subjects, including arithmetic, calculus, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Knowledge of data systems, analysis, and action plan formulation.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state education laws.
- Proficiency in computer networks and software applications.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills.
- Effective communication with students and parents.
- Self-evaluation and commitment to professional growth.
- Ability to establish cooperative relationships with colleagues and students.

Qualifications Profile
- Certification / License :
- NJ State Certification as a Mathematics Education Teacher
Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an education discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience at the appropriate grade level preferred.
