SOWELA is seeking an Instructor - Mathematics / Math Tutor in Lake Charles, LA to teach and support student learning in the School of Arts & Sciences within the Academic Affairs division.

The role requires a Master’s degree in mathematics (or a master’s with 18 graduate hours) and adherence to SACSCOC credentialing standards, with a focus on delivering high-quality tutoring, maintaining records, and fostering student success.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mathematics or a master’s with 18 graduate hours in mathematics.
• Credentialing guidelines for SACSCOC must be met.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the approved curriculum and defines course objectives.
• Keeps accurate classroom records and submits grades on time.
• Supports department assessment initiatives.
• Uses the course management system effectively.
• Tutors students, reviews materials, and encourages independent learning.
• Maintains a professional learning environment and communicates scheduling changes.
• Promotes tutoring services and collaborates with faculty and student services.
• Manages check-in/check-out procedures and prepares end-of-semester reports.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
