Job summary

Flowing Wells School District in Tucson is seeking a dedicated paraeducator to provide supplemental math support for at‑risk students within a 10‑month assignment. The role includes daily math instruction, small group or one‑on‑one tutoring, and progress tracking using electronic records.

A high school diploma and 60 college hours or an associate degree are preferred, with additional state‑tested qualifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental math support for at‑risk students.
• Conduct daily, scheduled classes for academic support based on state standards.
• Offer small group and one‑on‑one tutoring in lab or general education settings.
• Utilize software to implement interventions and practice materials.
• Track and report student data and performance by individuals and groups.
• Maintain an orderly classroom and manage materials for student use.
• Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and other meetings when asked.

Job description

Salary: $16.64 per hour - commensurate with experience

Terms/Benefits: 2026-2027 School Year

10 month position - 5.50 hours per day

Additional 8 hrs/week @ $17.00 for Study Hall Assistant

General Information:

Works with identified at-risk students to provide supplemental support in core mathematics skills.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional training in child psychology, classroom management, special education needs, or other related areas of study is desired.
• Must possess an Associate’s degree or 60 semester hours of coursework documented on an official transcript from an accredited institution of higher education; or pass a formal state assessment such as Master Teacher’s Para Educator Learning Network.
• A minimum of two years related work experience in an elementary or secondary school setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Skills in human relations.
• Skills with computer based programs, organizing electronic records, and completing electronic reports.
• Ability to work effectively with groups of students with a limited timeframe.
• Ability to teach to instructional objectives for at-risk students.
• Willingness to attend conferences, in-service workshops, and classes to upgrade and update skills.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
• Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
• Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
• Skills in time management.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Works under the supervision of highly qualified Math Specialist to provide supplemental support for at-risk students.
• Conducts daily, scheduled classes for academic support based on state standards.
• Provides small group and /or one-on-one support in the lab setting and/or in general education classrooms.
• Utilizes software technology to implement interventions and independent practice materials.
• Tracks and reports student data and performance by individual and groups.
• Maintains an orderly classroom environment; keeps inventory, catalogs and organizes classroom materials for student use.
• Attends faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school meetings upon request.
