Job summary

NOVA is seeking adjunct faculty to teach Mathematics in the designated discipline across multiple formats (face-to-face, remote, and online). Faculty may teach up to 12 credit hours in fall/spring and up to 8 in summer, with loads based on enrollment and staffing needs. The appointment carries no guarantee of continued employment.

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in the teaching field (or equivalent) and be able to teach in a DMV-area environment. Residency in the DMV area is required.

• Ability to use instructional technology.
• Master’s degree in the teaching field, or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field.
• Degrees and coursework in other fields related to mathematics are generally not accepted.
• Mathematics pedagogy degrees and/or coursework will not be accepted as meeting qualifications needed to teach Mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
• Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
• Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA and the VCCS .
• Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
