Job summary

Augusta Technical College is seeking an Instructional Support Specialist for MATH to provide tutoring and academic support to students in the Success Center. You will apply instructional strategies tailored to adult learners and monitor student progress to help them achieve their goals.

The role requires preparing suitable teaching materials, maintaining a positive learning environment, and coordinating schedules for morning, noon, or evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Familiarity with tutoring and/or supplemental instruction.
• Experience working with diverse populations with varying language skills and experiences.
• Experience working with higher education programs designed to increase student retention and graduation rates.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support to students in the Success Center using strategic learning methods and address immediate educational concerns.
• Demonstrate understanding of adult learners, varied learning styles, and differentiated instruction.
• Find and prepare appropriate teaching materials that match student needs and goals.
• Maintain a positive, welcoming attitude to encourage learning.
• Monitor and document each student’s progress and provide updates as required.
• Utilize the Success Center’s monitoring software to track utilization of services.
• Complete annual professional development activities as required.
• Perform basic administrative duties to support daily Success Center operations.
• Coordinate scheduling to cover morning, noon, and evening shifts as needed.
