Job summary

Penn State Abington seeks an engaging Professional Math Tutor to support undergraduate students in Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics. The role includes developing workshops and coordinating with faculty and student groups to enhance learning outcomes.

The tutor will maintain student records, create Math resources, and help promote tutoring services within the Chaiken Center for Student Success. Collaboration with departments is essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Math or related discipline.
• 3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to develop programs and partnerships to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual Math tutoring for students.
• Assign practice exercises as needed.
• Mentor students in completing class assignments.
• Assist students in preparing for exams.
• Develop and maintain a Math-focused Canvas course shell with resources.
• Monitor scheduling and documentation through Starfish.
• Maintain records (Starfish Outcome Notes, Client Report Forms, Surveys).
• Create and compile Math-focused instructional and marketing materials.
• Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and online resources on Math topics.
• Provide administrative support for the Chaiken Center for Student Success.
• Serve as liaison to academic departments and related services.
• Outreach to under-served and under-resourced students.
• Lead or coordinate special projects or initiatives as assigned.
• Collaborate with professors to align tutoring with classroom instruction.
