Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services seeks a Math Teacher to join our team in South Mountain, PA. The role is a regular full-time teaching position located at 10058 South Mountain Road, Building 6. Salary is $50,000 annually with paid training and opportunities for advancement.

You will develop lesson plans, manage classrooms, and document student progress while collaborating with educators and families to support students’ success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a subject area that supports teaching activities.
• PA Teaching Certification (public I/II or private equivalent) or emergency permit eligibility.
• Experience using behavior management techniques to engage children.

Responsibilities

• Employ varied instructional methods aligned with school curriculum.
• Create a conducive classroom environment appropriate to clients’ age.
• Maintain attendance, grade books, and report outcomes for clients.
• Develop daily lesson plans and complete educational paperwork.
• Collaborate with staff, clients, and families in meetings and training.
• Support the Abraxas Seven Key Principles of care and crisis management.

What You’ll Do

As a Teacher you will:

· Employ a wide variety of instructional methods, behavioral tools, and materials that are most appropriate for meeting standard operating procedures and educational objectives that are outlined in the school curriculum.

· Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the clients’ maturity.

· Create and maintain accurate client/administrative documents such as daily attendance and grade books; summarize achievements in reports for assigned clients including attendance and behavior.

· Develop daily lesson plans and complete all required educational paperwork

· Participate as an educational team member in coordination with the clients, staff, and school and represent the program in professional meetings, family meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.

· Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promote the Seven Key Principles of care.

· Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field in subject matter that is utilized for teaching experience
• PA Teaching Certification (Public School Certification (public I or II) or Private Academic School Certification), or ability to work under and maintain an emergency permit.
• Experience using effective behavior management techniques in relating to children to encourage participation and positive relationships and demonstrates enthusiasm in lessons.

Other Qualifications:

• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
• Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
• Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
