Job summary

Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California seeks a Tutor I at Woodfords Indian Education Center. Under supervision, you will provide tutoring for Native American students, maintain confidentiality, and support K-12 learning across math and science.

The position involves group and individual tutoring, record-keeping, and coordinating with teachers and families. Eligible candidates may be subject to a pre-employment drug screen and background check, with preference given to qualified Native American

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED plus one year experience working with students.
• Must be able to assist in Elementary, Middle, and High School Math and Science.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
• Preference will be given to Qualified Native American Indians.

Responsibilities

• Works with groups of Native American/Alaska Native K-12th grade students with common educational needs.
• Works with an individual NA/AN K-12th grade student with a prescribed educational plan(s) as needed.
• Maintains accurate attendance and academic records.
• Meets with appropriate individuals (teachers, parents, and other education staff) to formulate education plans for individual NA/AN K-12th grade students.
• Provides leadership and supervision of NA/AN K-12th grade children during recreational cultural and enrichment activities.
• Transports NA/AN K-12th grade children in Tribal vehicles for special field trips.
• Informs NA/AN K-12th grade students and parents of individual student progress.
• Performs other duties as required.
