Job summary

Colusa Indian Community Council seeks tutors to support Tribal children in and after school programs. You will plan educational activities, document progress, and work daily to promote academic success while collaborating with teachers, parents, and Community Services Department staff.

Responsibilities include mentoring, communicating with families, and ensuring a respectful, inclusive learning environment that honors diverse cultural backgrounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Core coursework from an accredited college or university in Education, Liberal Studies, Child Development, or related field preferred.
• Additional related education or training may substitute for required experience.
• Entry-level tutors should have demonstrated subject matter expertise.
• Minimum of one-year experience with youth/families; paraprofessional experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of tutoring in high school math and science is highly desirable.
• Experience in program development, implementation and coordination would be an asset.
• Must be 18+ years old; valid CA driver's license.
• Must obtain CPR/First Aid and health/safety certification; fingerprinting and clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Tutor tribal member students in and after school using general education curriculum; adapt to individual needs.
• Communicate with teachers and parents to support student progress.
• Act as mentor and educational advocate for students; monitor grade reports.
• Plan and implement activities to encourage educational achievement.
• Assess and encourage students in the learning process; explain problems clearly.
• Create a respectful, inclusive environment respecting diverse cultures and languages.
• Transport students to/from tutoring and program activities.
• Assist with planning and supervising youth activities; oversee program operations.
• Follow health and safety standards for cleaning and sanitizing.
