Math Interventionist (Grades 6–8)
The Math Interventionist supports students in grades 6–8 by providing targeted, data‑driven instruction to address gaps in mathematical understanding. This position aligns with Indiana Academic Standards for Mathematics and supports student achievement on the ILEARN. The interventionist works within a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to ensure all students receive appropriate academic interventions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 math interventions through small‑group and individualized instruction aligned to Indiana Academic Standards
- Use multiple data sources (e.g., ILEARN results, NWEA, classroom assessments) to identify students in need of support
- Implement evidence‑based instructional strategies and intervention programs targeting skill deficits
- Conduct ongoing progress monitoring and adjust interventions based on student performance
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between intervention and core instruction (Tier 1)
- Participate in and support school‑based MTSS/RTI teams, including data meetings and intervention planning
- Assist in developing and monitoring Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) or intervention plans for students
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district and IDOE requirements
- Support preparation for ILEARN by reinforcing key standards, test‑taking strategies, and mathematical reasoning skills
- Communicate student progress with teachers, administrators, and families
- Participate in professional development aligned to IDOE initiatives and district goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid Indiana Department of Education teaching license (Middle School Mathematics preferred)
- Knowledge of Indiana Academic Standards for Mathematics
- Experience with data analysis and progress monitoring tools
- Familiarity with Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and intervention practices
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
