Job summary

Achievers Early College Prep is seeking middle school teachers to strengthen curriculum and instruction through collaboration. Teachers will design and implement assessments, use data to refine instruction, and support students toward high standards.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), teaching experience with underserved populations, and valid NJ Teacher Certification (or in progress). Strong communication with students, families, and colleagues is essential.

Achievers Early College Prep Charter School (AECP) is New Jersey’s first public charter school for students in middle school and high school that provides them with the unique opportunity to pursue one of four STEAM pathways (Health Sciences, Digital Media, Audio Engineering and Cisco Computer Networking). ABOUT THE ROLE

Achievers Early College Prep is excited to grow a team of middle school teachers who are committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration. Teachers in this position be able to do the following:

• Strong understanding of Math fundamentals & concepts
• Ability to breakdown concepts and explain clearly in small groups
• Familiarity with WIDA Model Online Testing and Access for ELLs
• Experience/comfort with online applications to enhance learning
• Design and implement curriculum and assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
• Use data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Receptive to weekly coaching and committed to growing and strengthening practice
• Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior
• Implement multiple techniques for increased student engagement and checking for understanding
• Will be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
• Familiarity with Google Classroom and virtual meeting platforms
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Identifies students with substantial academic deficiencies by evaluation of available test and observational data, by consultation with staff members, and by recommendations made by other personnel
• Develops instructional goals and specific instructional objectives for each student selected for remedial teaching with I&RS team and classroom teacher
• In cooperation with the building principal and classroom teacher, properly group students for remedial instruction after consideration of the learning style and level of academic functioning of each student
• Follows other responsibilities determined by the Principal

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
• Teaching experience in an upper elementary, middle, or high school with an underserved population
• Adept interpersonal and communication skills to diverse audiences
• Valid NJ Teacher Certification completed or in progress

Achievers Early College Prep is a gap-closing, “All-in”, team-oriented charter school focused on results for kids.
