When Brown Girls Lead® (WBGL) is seeking an experienced Math Instructional Coach to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning across our partner schools in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate is an accomplished mathematics educator and instructional leader with a deep understanding of how students learn mathematics and what it takes to develop confident, independent mathematical thinkers. They bring expertise in fostering conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and student discourse, while recognizing the importance of productive struggle, maintaining high cognitive demand, and providing intentional instructional support.
Equally important is the ability to use data to drive instructional improvement and build educators' capacity to do the same. The ideal candidate can analyze student performance data, classroom evidence, and student work to identify learning needs, uncover instructional gaps, and guide responsive teaching. They can also help teachers and school leaders develop the skills and confidence to interpret data, make informed instructional decisions, and monitor student progress over time.
In this role, the Math Instructional Coach will partner with teachers and school leaders to strengthen instructional planning, improve classroom practices, and build teacher capacity. Through classroom observations, data analysis, collaborative planning, and actionable feedback, they will identify opportunities for growth and support measurable improvements in teaching and student learning.
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring strong classroom teaching and instructional coaching experience and can serve as trusted thought partners to school leadership teams, translating their expertise into meaningful, sustainable instructional improvements.
