Job summary

REETHS-PUFFER SCHOOLS seeks a Math Coach to strengthen math instruction across DK-4, providing professional development, coaching, and curriculum leadership for Illustrative Math implementation and MTSS data use.

You will train teachers, observe lessons, give feedback, model effective practices, and collaborate with the leadership team to monitor progress and improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Education required.
• Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction or related field preferred.
• Valid Michigan Elementary or Secondary Teaching Certificate required.
• Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience.
• Experience with Illustrative Math (IM) curriculum is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality professional development around effective math practices and the foundations of numeracy.
• Provide feedback, engage in one-on-one coaching, and model best practices.
• Identify where high-quality curricula built-in supports are not being maximized.
• Model and teach new quality math intervention activities.
• Coach teachers on using high-quality, evidence-based assessments to determine the most effective interventions required.
• Coordinate and implement high-quality math curriculum (IM) DK-4.
• Facilitate professional development for teachers.
• Observe teachers, provide feedback, and identify next steps to improve instruction in core math instruction for the purpose of support and not evaluation.
• Support classroom teachers in developing interventions, whole, and small group learning.
• Model and teach exemplar lessons.
• Support lesson preparation using IM.
• Model and support high-quality interactions with students.
• Analyze data, identify trends, and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data as part of the MTSS team.
• Support teachers with effective parent communication and family involvement.
• Communicate a belief in all students’ abilities to become successful mathematicians.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings.
• Communicate with the leadership team on school-wide math progress.

The Math Coach serves as the math content expert and provides support on curriculum, high-quality interactions, and effective mathematics instruction.

Compensation

The salary of this grant-funded position will be commensurate with level of education and experience.
