Job summary

UNC Health Care System in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a diagnostic medical sonographer specializing in obstetrics and fetal imaging. You will operate specialized ultrasound equipment, perform high-risk ob/gyn scans, and communicate preliminary findings to radiologists and obstetricians.

The role requires ARDMS OB/GYN and fetal echocardiography registration, BLS, and at least two years in maternal-fetal medicine.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
• ARDMS Registered in OB and OB/GYN and Fetal Echocardiography (FE).
• Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited education program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment for maternal-fetal exams and train residents.
• Consult with patients on contraindications and preparation for procedures.
• Perform ultrasound procedures under supervision and document findings.
• Provide preliminary results to radiologist and obstetric providers.
• Assist radiologist with invasive procedures and ensure comprehensive exams.
• Acquire Doppler data and 3D/4D images for interpretation.
• Identify cases needing direct radiologist oversight and escalation.
• Record data and coordinate with departments for exams.
