The Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for an outstanding academic physician at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join our team. The successful candidate will provide excellent clinical care, advance research in obstetrics and women’s health, and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
Our division is currently comprised of 7 physicians, 3 Genetic Counselors, and a Perinatal Nurse Navigator. We have 8 dedicated core sonographers who perform advanced obstetric ultrasound across our main Fetal Care Center and regional outreach locations. Our clinical research team includes a research administrator, research coordinator, and access to a central Clinical Trials Unit for additional pre/post award support.
Division members provide comprehensive care in high-risk obstetrics, including inpatient and outpatient services, ultrasound-guided fetal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, remote fetal ultrasound reads, and subspecialty consultations. The division oversees the Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and actively participates in the Residency Program in OB/GYN.
UVA Medical Center supports a Level IV NICU with over 60 beds, cared for by 12 full-time neonatologists, with full-range pediatric subspecialty resources and a local Ronald McDonald House for family support.
The University of Virginia Medical Center has received multiple recognitions in obstetrics care, including being named a Top Maternity Hospital by Newsweek three times between 2020 and 2024. UVA Children's Hospital is ranked in US News and World Report 2024-2025 as a Best Children's Hospital.
University of Virginia Health comprises the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, University Physicians Group, and the Medical Center. The Medical Center is a 735-bed, Level 1 trauma center serving as the primary hospital for both adult and pediatric care in central Virginia. The university includes 13 schools in Charlottesville and the College at Wise in rural Southwest Virginia.
