Job summary

The Omaha Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Maternal & Child Health Community Health Worker (CHW) to provide culturally responsive support to pregnant individuals, postpartum parents, infants and families. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide certificates required in NE.
• CPR certification required; ACLS optional.
• CHW certification preferred; willingness to obtain considered.
• Public health or maternal-child health experience preferred; strong communication and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with coordinating transportation to prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric appointments.
• Provide culturally appropriate educational materials on pregnancy, postpartum care, infant health, and child development.
• Offer ongoing emotional support, encouragement, and advocacy for clients during pregnancy and early childhood.
• Connect families to healthcare, nutrition programs, housing assistance, and social services.
• Support care coordination by communicating with providers and service organizations.
• Conduct outreach and engagement activities to promote maternal and child health services.
• Uphold confidentiality and respect for cultural values and HIPAA/tribal policies.
• Document encounters in the electronic health record and assist with program reporting.
• Participate in outreach events, home visits, and quality improvement activities.
