Job summary

PACCAR in Chillicothe, OH is seeking a Materials/Traffic Planner to join our manufacturing support team. The role combines material planning and logistics responsibilities to ensure on-time production, adherence to schedules, and cost-efficient freight operations.

You will analyze production releases, issue POs, monitor shipments, coordinate with suppliers and Kenworth/Peterbilt divisions, and implement lean improvements. Bachelor’s degree and strong communication are required.

Responsibilities

• Determine production needs by reviewing releases, data and reports.
• Issue POs to suppliers to meet production lead times.
• Maintain accurate order boards for weeks 0-2.
• Expedite releases to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with suppliers and Kenworth management to resolve disputes.
• Coordinate new model launches with suppliers, eng. and handling teams.
• Maintain relationships with division buyers.
• Maintain accuracy of exception reports daily.
• Resolve supplier packaging and labeling issues.
• Identify and resolve delivery issues proactively.
• Implement Lean/Six Sigma improvements where possible.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

MATERIAL PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• DETERMINE PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSIGNED GROUP OF PURCHASED PARTS BY REVIEWING SALES OR ENGINEERING RELEASES, HISTORICAL DATA, SHORTAGE OR EXCEPTION REPORTS, AND OTHER APPLICABLE INPUTS.
• ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS TO SUPPLIERS TIMELY AND ACCURATELY TO MEET PRODUCTION LEAD TIMES, REPLENISH NON-CONFORMING OR MISSING STOCK, AND IN RESPONSE TO ENGINEERING CHANGE NOTIFICATIONS.
• MAINTAIN ACCURATE ORDER BOARD IN WEEKS 0-2.
• EXPEDITE ORDER RELEASES TO ASSURE TIMELY DELIVERY OF PARTS TO SUPPORT PRODUCTION REQUIREMENTS.
• COLLABORATE WITH SUPPLIERS AND KENWORTH MANAGEMENT TO RESOLVE DISPUTES OVER EXPEDITE, OT, OR OTHER CHARGES.
• COORDINATE NEW MODEL LAUNCHES WITH SUPPLIERS, ENGINEERING, AND MATERIAL HANDLING TO ENSURE ON TIME DELIVERY.
• MAINTAIN A STRONG RELATIONSHIP WITH DIVISION BUYERS TO ENSURE ALL GOALS ARE MET.
• MAINTAIN ACCURACY OF EXCEPTION REPORTS/TRANSACTIONS DAILY (UMR, MAPC, ITP, ETC.).
• RESOLVE SUPPLIER PACKAGING, LABELING, AND OTHER COMPLIANCE ISSUES.
• PROACTIVELY IDENTIFY AND RESOLVE DELIVERY ISSUES.
• PROACTIVELY IMPLEMENT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS UTILIZING LEAN/SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGIES.
• MUST PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

TRAFFIC PLANNER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• SCHEDULE, EXPEDITE, AND MONITOR INBOUND AND OUTBOUND SHIPMENTS.
• MAINTAIN ACCURATE TRACKING INFORMATION AND REPORTING.
• EXERCIZE GOOD DECISION-MAKING REGARDING FREIGHT ROUTING.
• UTILIZE PACCAR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM TO ENSURE ON-TIME DELIVERY OF SHIPMENTS.
• EXECUTE FREIGHT CLAIM PROCESS TO ENSURE BEST COST RECOVERY FOR LOSS/DAMAGE.
• ENSURE ACCURATE DOCUMENTATION FOR CUSTOMS EXPORTS AND HAZMAT SHIPMENTS.
• PROACTIVELY IDENTIFY AND RESOLVE DELIVERY ISSUES.
• PROACTIVELY IMPLEMENT PROCESS IMPROVEMENTS UTILIZING LEAN/SIX SIGMA METHODOLOGIES.
