Job summary

Umpqua Sand & Gravel, A CRH Company, in Roseburg, OR, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to test aggregates, concrete, and asphalt to ensure the highest quality materials are used in projects across our sites.

The ideal candidate will learn through training, possess basic math/algebra skills, and communicate effectively with teams. This role may require travel, overtime, and occasional nights as needed to meet demand.

Qualifications

• Basic math and algebra proficiency required during training.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all departments and customers.
• Willingness to travel to various site locations near Salem.
• Demonstrate a high standard of ethics and integrity.
• Must pass physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
• Willingness to work nights, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely collect samples from asphalt, concrete or aggregate plants and job sites.
• Set-up, operate, and maintain nuclear density gauges for compaction.
• Perform field tests for density or other properties.
• Report non-compliant tests to the project superintendent.
• Process samples using testing equipment and procedures.
• Record data and enter information into computer systems.
• Communicate with plant staff and participate in clean-up and maintenance.
• Take action to avoid hazards and ensure regular attendance.
