Job summary

Raba Kistner, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our consultants team. You will perform concrete, HMA, soils and aggregate testing per ASTM/AASHTO/DOT methods and maintain documentation of results in a compliant lab environment.

The role requires safe operation of lab equipment, regular calibration, and accurate recording of hours and findings. A valid driver's license and basic math skills are expected; opportunities exist for Technician II/III progression.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Laboratory Technician I requires 6 months of applicable experience and at least 1 industry certification.
• Relevant industry certifications such as ACI, NICET, TXDOT, ICC, PTI or equivalent as approved by hiring manager.
• Ability to read instructions, labels, and reports; basic math and good written communication required.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical/index/chemical construction material laboratory testing per established procedures (CMU, HMA, soils, aggregates).
• Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
• Perform and document routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
• Maintain a neat/clean/safe laboratory and work space.
• Maintain relevant certifications and regularly review testing methods.
• Meet deadlines according to procedures and safety guidelines.
• Demonstrate safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicle.
• Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
• Adhere to Health & Safety and BBS programs.
