Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level I in Fort Myers, FL. You will observe and perform routine field and laboratory testing tasks under supervision, gaining skills in data collection, documentation, and testing methods relevant to geotechnical and construction materials engineering.

You will support with sample preparation, curing, data entry, and field reports while developing foundational technical competencies and ECS core values.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• One certification must be completed within 90 days; basic certifications within 270 days: Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary.

Responsibilities

• Assists with field and laboratory materials testing activities.
• Observes testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Documents site conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Prepares and organizes field and laboratory equipment.
• Performs basic data entry, calculations, and data reduction tasks.
• Communicates with field staff, contractors, and project team members.
• Keeps supervisors informed of changing site conditions or additional testing needs.
• Supports laboratory testing activities including sample preparation and curing.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Notifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Attends project meetings with senior staff.
