Job summary

Jobtailor in Torrance, CA seeks a Laboratory Technician to provide technical laboratory support and perform materials testing across metallic and non-metallic materials. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop test plans and ensure compliance with quality systems.

The role requires experience in laboratory environments, knowledge of materials testing methods, and the ability to read specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• Laboratory experience with safety and quality awareness.
• Knowledge of materials testing types (mechanical, metallurgical, or chemical).
• Ability to read engineering specifications or drawings.
• Ability to write work instructions.
• Familiarity with aerospace quality systems or standards (AS9100, ISO17025, Nadcap AC7101/AC7108).
• Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities.
• Must be a U.S. Person or eligible for export authorization.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical laboratory support and perform testing in assigned disciplines for metallic and non-metallic materials.
• Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, technicians, site quality leaders, vendors, suppliers, and external customers.
• Develop and execute test plans based on internal and external customer requests, including mechanical testing.
• Develop new testing capabilities by identifying equipment and resources, writing procedures, and ensuring compliance with quality system requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces in compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.
• Perform 5S activities.
• Manage consumable inventory.
• Receive and ship goods.
• Report to the Mechanical Design Engineering Manager.
