Job summary

Raytheon is seeking a Materials Tester to join the M&PE department. You will perform hands-on testing of adhesives, elastomers, polymers, tapes, composites, metals, and other production materials in a world-class lab to support product readiness.

You will learn material testing using FTIR, DSC, hardness gauges, and mechanical testing machines while following test instructions and safety protocols, interpreting requirements, and generating reports from your data.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a university degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience in materials engineering or chemical analysis.
• U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance; an active, transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance must be obtained prior to the start date.
• Understanding of material testing/analysis such as hardness, adhesion tests, sample preparation procedures, and cross sectioning.
• Experience in performing and managing high-volume, highly technical work.

Responsibilities

• Test a wide array of materials for compliance with drawings, specifications, and program applications.
• Work in a wet lab, observing all safety procedures and common lab protocols.
• Write scientific reports using generated data to support technical dispositions.
