Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a Materials Technician Lead for Distribution Services at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. You will oversee the materials technician staff, manage daily workflows, and ensure accurate receiving, put-away, and delivery to inpatient and clinical areas.

You will act as a subject matter expert for inventory systems, drive performance, and coordinate with departments to support patient care. Hospital experience and leadership skills are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in materials management and healthcare distribution environments.
• It is preferred to have prior staff leadership experience.
• Proficiency with materials management software and handheld devices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the materials technician staff and monitor productivity and issues.
• Perform duties of Materials Technician I & II when needed to meet objectives.
• Ensure daily tasks are completed timely and accurately; oversee inbound goods and put-away.
• Resolve problems promptly and escalate as required.
• Provide high level customer service to internal departments.
• Conduct daily rounds to support areas and assess productivity.
• Serve as liaison between supply chain, nurses, physicians and staff.
• Maintain quality and compliance with safety policies and laws.
• Act as a Super-User for inventory systems (Pyxis, handhelds).
• Support quality control for orders and ensure product integrity.
• Coordinate urgent deliveries and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Train new staff and assist in departmental goal development.
