Job summary

GE Aerospace in Fort Worth, TX is hiring a Warehouse/Materiel Associate to manage materials flow, receiving, put-away and shipping, while maintaining accurate inventory in SAP ERP. You will support lean manufacturing, cycle counts and safety compliance to keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements include 1 year in aerospace/logistics, and an associate degree or HS diploma; ability to lift 50 pounds; flexibility for shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or High School diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Aerospace, Warehouse, Logistics and/or Distribution Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist material fulfillment: manage critical material reviews with vendors and GE MRO network; support OWS site with urgency; put away and pull materials per production plan.
  • Maintain lean inventory levels; assist with cycle counts; participate in annual physical inventory and process improvements.
  • Create demand in SAP; manage internal/external sources; optimize bulk ordering to reduce PO count and shipments.
  • Handle material accumulation, unpack shipments, receive in ERP, prep for shipment, and generate shipping labels.
  • Verify part numbers, serials, quantities; ensure paperwork matches; dispose of scrap and obsolete inventory.
  • Understand import/export requirements; prepare commercial invoices; operate powered equipment like forklifts.
  • Adhere to safety, complete training, participate in investigations, and apply LEAN principles daily.

These teams work with a variety of supplier partners researching the best rates and negotiating contracts to support every step in our supply chain process.

This site performs maintenance on GE/CFM commercial aircraft engines.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Assist the material fulfillment function including managing critical material reviews with external vendors and the GE MRO network. Work for quick resolution to support OWS site with strong sense of urgency. Put away and pull materials in alignment with production plan and KPIs. Ensure parts are stored accordingly to prevent damage and contamination.
  • Practice effective inventory management strategy that assure site inventory levels are kept at lean levels which still support shop operations. Assist with regular cycle counts. Help manage inventory and participate in process improvements initiatives. Participate in site-wide Annual Physical Inventory.
  • Create order demand in SAP including creation/duplication of internal material demand with both internal and external sources. Use discretion on bulk ordering to decrease number of purchase orders issued and number of packages to receive. Create workflow to add chemicals to SAP ERP as needed; order consumables / chemicals as required to support site operations.
  • Assist with Material Accumulation processes (repair and kitting cycle) through liaison with technicians, production and planning team. Unpackage incoming shipments, assist with receiving aviation materials in site ERP, prepare outgoing packages for shipment, including creation of shipping labels with various shipping companies. Physically prep assets to ship and receive (i.e., direct material, indirect material, tooling, consumables). Verify that all incoming and outgoing parts/ materials/ components comply with local and GE Aerospace quality system standards. Perform "Water Spider" LEAN Manufacturing duties as they relate to day-to-day operations for Shop Floor Material Flow Efficiency.
  • Visually examine materials and accompanying paperwork for defects and sort articles according to extent of defect. Accurately identify part numbers, serial numbers, and quantities and assure all match the accompanying paperwork.
  • Physically dispose of scrap hardware and/or low demand/obsolete inventory.
  • Understand import/export/ITC requirements. Create commercial invoices for parts/tools/materials coming into our going out of the facility.
  • Use powered equipment to complete the necessary task, such as sit-down forklift.
  • Comply with safety requirements, complete training per schedule, participate in investigations and read-across as requested, promptly identify safety issues, work with team to pursues solutions, and elevate issues.
  • Participate in assessments, read across and PFMEAs to identify and understand sources of defects. Promptly identify and elevate risks to leadership and work with team on solutions.
  • Participate in LEAN events and apply learnings to daily activity. Apply and improve upon standard work in area of responsibility. Identify sources of waste and customer dissatisfaction, elevate to leadership team and work among the team to find solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Associates degree or High School diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Aerospace, Warehouse, Logistics and/or Distribution Operations required.
Desired Characteristics & Experience
  • Availability to work flexible shift patterns as required, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability and willingness to support calls during off‑hours when emergency situations arise.
  • GE On Wing Support is a 24 / 7 / 365 operation.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Holds previous materials and inventory experience and international field experience.
  • Knowledge of import, export, customs, and dangerous goods requirements.
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP system, specifically the “Materials Module”. Ability to demonstrate required knowledge of the ERP to ensure compliance with company materials processes and maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Possess a desire to learn and grow with technology advancements and new engine models.
  • Approaches work with a “can-do” attitude and a sense of commitment to both the team and customer objectives.
  • Features strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including problem-solving ability
  • Proven leadership experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
