Job summary

IEM in San Antonio, Texas seeks a Materials Supervisor to lead day-to-day materials operations from receipt to finished goods, ensuring inventory accuracy and uninterrupted production flow.

You will supervise a team, partner with planning, purchasing, production, and quality, and drive Kaizen events and standardized processes that support operational excellence in a fast-growing manufacturing environment. This is a 100% in-office role with no remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, industrial engineering or related field; equivalent combo may be considered.
• 4+ years in materials management, inventory control, warehouse ops, logistics or supply chain in manufacturing.
• 2+ years supervising or leading a warehouse/materials/inventory team.
• Experience with lean warehouse and material replenishment systems (PFEP, Kanban, supermarket, pull, point-of-use).
• Experience in Kaizen events and structured problem-solving.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP/Oracle/Infor Syteline preferred.
• APICS CPIM/CSCP, Six Sigma, or Lean cert preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily materials management activities including supermarket operations, receiving, inventory control, material handling, replenishment, WIP, and finished-goods flow.
• Support accuracy and flow of raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventories; reinforce transactional discipline and location control.
• Implement standardized materials management processes aligned with production requirements.
• Maintain PFEP system including part characteristics, demand, usage, replenishment methods, and locations.
• Design and execute lean replenishment systems (Kanban, supermarket, point-of-use, milk runs).
• Collaborate with Purchasing/Supply Chain and Planning to support production schedules and escalate shortages or risks.
• Coordinate supermarket and point-of-use flow; improve warehouse layout, slotting, and replenishment efficiency.
• Support inventory optimization balancing availability, service levels, working capital, and production continuity.
• Lead cross-functional Kaizen events and problem-solving focused on material flow and inventory accuracy.
• Use data to identify root causes and drive improvement with tools like A3, PDCA, 5 Whys, VSM, standard work.
• Monitor material availability and production progress; escalate issues impacting schedule attainment.
• Support supplier issue resolution with MRB, Purchasing, and Quality teams.
• Support inventory governance with Finance to identify discrepancies and corrective actions.
• Track KPIs: inventory accuracy, shortages, replenishment, turns, productivity, dock-to-stock, and delivery at point of use.
• Coach and develop materials and warehouse team members; maintain safe work environment.
