Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Mapleton, IL is seeking a Materials Specialist to handle forklifts, pallets, and inventory across the facility, ensuring accurate records and compliant processes.

You will support shipping/receiving, perform cycle counts, and work with SAP to track material movement, while collaborating with production and logistics to resolve shortages and maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.

• Ability to work alone and with a team, managing time.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, power trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receive, store, move, and distribute materials throughout the facility.
• Process inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Support shipping and receiving operations, including preparing and verifying documentation.
• Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and inventory reconciliation activities.
• Work with SAP and other systems to track material movement and inventory status.
• Verify material quantities, part numbers, and documentation accuracy.
• Maintain inventory of production supplies, consumables, and finished goods.
• Assist with material flow improvements to support production demands.
• Follow standard work procedures and maintain compliance with safety requirements.
• Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives within the work area.
• Collaborate with production, logistics, and leadership teams to resolve material shortages and inventory discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
