Responsibilities

1. Forecasts and communicates engineering, materials, and manufacturing requirements to suppliers. Provides input to outsourcing decisions by performing make versus buy analysis. Coordinates demand signals through MRP to minimize inventory exposure.
2. Forms Materials Core Team and coordinates product development process deliverables through matrix management of buyers, planners, and production control. Collaborates with engineering team to interpret engineering requirements.
3. Creates, releases, and updates project materials strategy under supervision.
4. Sourcing: Assists in supplier negotiations, utilizes preferred supplier selection, completes risk assessments, and monitors supplier performance.
5. Coordinates source selection activities, specification creation, and price negotiations.
6. Executes commercialization (transition) materials plan.
7. Manages materials change control, meets cost objectives, resolves quality issues, and tracks KPIs and landed costs.
8. Works with engineering to identify critical parts, long-lead items, and inspection requirements; supports value analysis and Should Cost analysis.
9. Partners with quality and engineering to resolve supplier quality issues, escalating when necessary.
