Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Huntsville, AL seeks an Engineering Technician for the AMF Materials and Processes Lab. The role focuses on material characterization, failure investigations, and in‑process testing to support the MPE team.

You will work under the AMF Laboratory Manager, mentor junior staff, develop testing methods, and contribute to continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 10+ years technician experience or 2-year degree with 6+ years experience.
• Knowledge of non-metallic materials properties and testing methods.
• Hands-on experience with composite layup and vacuum bagging.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned projects safely, efficiently, and within deadlines.
• Develop, document, and implement new testing methods and procedures.
• Create best practice documentation for material testing techniques.
• Mentor and train technicians and engineers in the lab.
• Provide feedback on test plans and fabricate non-metallic test layups.
• Conduct testing per ASTM, MIL, ISO standards and internal requests.
• Generate laboratory reports per material specification requirements.
• Maintain 5S+1 organized, clean laboratory operations.
