Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking an Engineering Technician - Materials Process Lab in Huntsville, AL. The role supports testing for material characterization, failure investigations, and recertification within the AMF Laboratory, reporting to the AMF Laboratory Manager.

The position emphasizes safe project completion, development of testing methods, mentoring staff, and generating compliant lab reports, with a focus on non-metallic materials in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years technician experience or 2 years post-secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior technician experience.
• Knowledge of non-metallic materials properties.
• Ability to perform testing per ASTM, MIL, ISO standards and related lab procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely complete assigned projects within deadlines.
• Develop, document, and implement new testing methods and procedures.
• Create best practice documentation for material testing techniques.
• Mentor and train lower-level technicians and engineers.
• Provide feedback on test plans and validate results.
• Fabricate non-metallic material test layups.
• Perform testing using lab equipment and instruments.
• Generate laboratory reports aligned with material specs.
• Contribute to lab operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain laboratory readiness and 5S+1 compliant organization.
