Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to evaluate, improve, and support manufacturing processes across material types and alloys. The role emphasizes collaboration with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent materials processing.

Responsibilities include root-cause investigations, process standardization, and development of support documentation to drive continuous improvement in material performance and processing reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Materials Science preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in process/materials/manufacturing roles involving critical material requirements.
  • U.S. citizen able to obtain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess manufacturing processes to understand material properties and processing parameters impact on performance and manufacturability.
  • Monitor quality notifications and identify failure modes and deviations to prevent recurrence.
  • Evaluate tooling, fixturing, and material handling for proper processing and integrity.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focusing on material flow, reliability, yield, and scrap reduction.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering Product Teams, and other groups to optimize work centers for material processing.
