Job summary

Zoom Hire Solutions is seeking a Materials & Process Engineer in El Segundo for an in-person, full-time role. You will connect materials chemistries to the process-structure-property relationship of fiber-reinforced composites, guiding material selection and process development to meet aerospace, defense, and energy needs.

You’ll run material characterization (TGA/DSC/DMA), design test campaigns, diagnose failures, and translate findings into scale-up changes.

Qualifications

• US person required under EAR/ITAR
• In-person at our El Segundo facility, Monday–Friday
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with strong chemistry background; advanced degree preferred
• 3+ years post-grad industry experience in composite materials design and manufacturing; 5+ years for senior level
• Strong knowledge of materials science and processing-structure-property relationships
• Experience with material characterization and mechanical coupon testing
• Experience with supplier collaboration and material qualification
• Lab management and SOP development experience
• Comfortable working in a lab and manufacturing environment
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional teamwork
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

Responsibilities

• Run and interpret material characterization (TGA, DMA, DSC, rheology, mechanical tests)
• Design and execute process and mechanical test campaigns
• Diagnose failures and translate findings to production-scale changes
• Collaborate with suppliers and external collaborators to source and qualify new materials
• Help build lab systems, SOPs and test protocols as we scale
• Wear multiple hats: project management and cross-team coordination
