Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. in Newport News, VA seeks an experienced Materials Planner to coordinate material flow from receiving to production, ensuring on-time delivery and proper inventory levels.

You will translate engineering specs into material requirements and maintain scheduling using MRP systems. Requires a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of related experience or a Master’s with 4+ years; equivalents may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience.
• Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalents to Bachelor's Degree may satisfy minimum qualifications via the options listed.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules and manages the movement of material from receiving or warehouse to production.
• Develops raw material and scheduling requirements from engineering specs and production schedules.
• May use Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
• May negotiate lead times with suppliers and manage schedules for timely delivery.

Master's Degree

Associate's Degree or 2-year program + 2 years exempt experience

Military Paygrade E-5 or above

High School/GED + 4 years combined manufacturing or shipbuilding experience

High School/GED + 8 years combined manufacturing or shipbuilding experience
