Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. in Vernon, CA is seeking a Material Planner to coordinate material availability, purchasing, and deliveries for customer repairs. You will collaborate with Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to meet deadlines.

You will review orders, prepare repair quotations, issue purchase orders, and manage invoices while supporting warehouse activities. Strong MRP skills and Office proficiency are required; SAP is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of material planning, manufacturing, or related experience.
• MRP experience is required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, Project).
• Able to plan material availability and production capacity in a complex environment.
• SAP experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Material PlannerLocation: Vernon, CA 90058Job Type: Contract to HireSchedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PMPay: $35-$40hrPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Material Planner to support the planning and scheduling of customer repairs while ensuring materials, purchasing, and deliveries stay on track. This role works closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to meet customer requirements and deadlines.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed repair quotations for customer equipment.Review inventory and determine expected delivery times.Review customer orders for pricing, delivery dates, shipping/billing information, and specifications.Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding order status and expedite requests.Request supplier quotes and initiate purchase orders.Manage incoming and outgoing invoices.Coordinate with suppliers on delivery dates, information, and reconciliation.Assist with warehouse activities, including receiving, inspection, packaging, and shipping.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications & Skills3–5 years of relevant experience in material planning, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a similar environment.Material Requirements Planning (MRP) experience required.Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, SharePoint, and Project.Ability to effectively plan material availability and production capacity in a complex environment.Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and follow tasks through to completion.SAP experience is preferred but not required.Additional InformationThis is an on-site position with the potential to become permanent based on business needs and candidate performance.
