Talentify in Metro Detroit, Michigan seeks a Materials Manager to oversee material planning, purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling and material flow in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

The role emphasizes maintaining ERP/MRP data, coordinating with production teams, resolving supplier issues, and leading planning and purchasing staff to optimize costs and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive manufacturing and operations experience in precision metal parts.
• Strong grasp of blueprint reading, metallurgy, raw material procurement, and CNC operations.
• Experience planning in a low-volume, high-mix, high-complexity environment.
• Solid knowledge of ERP systems and material flow.
• Leadership, mentoring and communication skills with a sense of urgency.
• Excellent computer skills; Lean tools knowledge (APQP, 5S) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage material planning, purchasing, inventory control, production scheduling, and shipping/receiving activities.
• Ensure materials and components are available to meet production schedules and customer demand.
• Monitor inventory levels, shortages, customer releases, and supplier deliveries.
• Work with suppliers to resolve delivery, quality, lead-time, and material availability issues.
• Maintain accurate inventory and MRP/ERP system information.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Engineering, and Operations to resolve material and scheduling concerns.
• Monitor supplier performance, inventory accuracy, premium freight, and on-time delivery.
• Identify opportunities to reduce inventory, material costs, and supply-chain disruptions.
• Lead and develop Materials, Planning, Purchasing, and Shipping/Receiving personnel as assigned.
