The Materials & Customer Service Manager oversees customer demand, material planning, inventory control, shipping, receiving, and logistics activities, as well as customer service functions to support production requirements and ensure on-time delivery to customers. This position works closely with customers, suppliers, production, purchasing, and logistics teams to drive operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL Duties & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service & Demand Planning
- Manage customer releases, forecasts, and order requirements.
- Communicate customer demand changes and delivery requirements throughout the organization.
- Maintain customer portals, EDI systems, and customer-related documentation.
- Ensure high levels of customer service and on-time delivery performance.
- Manage EDI transactions and manual entry of customer orders.
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Develop and maintain material requirements plans to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels, material availability, and safety stock requirements.
- Investigate inventory adjustments and discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Lead cycle counts and physical inventory activities to ensure inventory accuracy.
Logistics & Supply Chain
- Coordinate supplier releases and material deliveries.
- Oversee shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate transactions.
- Identify and resolve material shortages, supply risks, and delivery issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain procedures, work instructions, and inventory control processes.
- Analyze performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, material flow, and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.
- Minimum five years of experience in materials management, inventory control, customer service, or supply chain management.
- Manufacturing experience required; automotive experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, inventory management, and customer release systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate ability to provide clear, effective and timely follow up with suppliers and customers.
