Qualifications

  • Procurement & commodity management: source, negotiate, and purchase metals and molded materials.
  • Supply chain execution: convert forecasts and orders into buy/replenishment plans; manage POs.
  • ERP data ownership: maintain item master data, planning parameters, safety stock, min/max.
  • Supplier development: qualify suppliers and drive on-time delivery and cost improvements.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: align inventory with production schedules and new products.
  • Team leadership: mentor buyers/planners or manage execution as needed.

Job description

Beckett Air is seeking a hands-on, results-driven Materials Manager to take operational ownership of material availability, supplier performance, and ERP data integrity across our manufacturing operations. In this role, you will lead buying and materials planning for key commodities—including steel, aluminum, stainless, polypropylene, and nylon—ensuring production lines run smoothly without shortages or excess inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement & Commodity Management: Source, negotiate, and purchase metals and molded materials; manage pricing, lead times, capacity, and total cost of ownership.
  • Supply Chain Execution: Convert demand forecasts and customer orders into precise buy/replenishment plans while actively managing purchase orders from issuance to receipt.
  • ERP Data Ownership: Maintain high data integrity in the ERP system (QAD or equivalent), managing item master data, planning parameters, safety stock levels, and min/max thresholds.
  • Supplier Development: Qualify suppliers, build strategic vendor partnerships, and drive continuous improvement in on-time delivery, quality, and cost metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align inventory schedules, support new product introductions, and resolve potential shortages proactively.
  • Team Leadership: Direct and mentor materials personnel (Buyer/Planner team) or directly manage execution depending on operational structure.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in buying, commodity management, materials planning, or a combined buyer/planner role within a manufacturing setting.
  • Industry Knowledge: Direct exposure to metal fabrication and injection molded material commodities (steel, aluminum, stainless steel, polypropylene, nylon, or similar).
  • Technical Skills: Strong hands-on proficiency with ERP/MRP systems as a primary operational tool.
  • Core Competencies: Demonstrated ability to manage supplier performance, optimize inventory turns, and maintain accurate planning parameters.
