Job summary

Dover Food Retail, a Dover Corporation unit, is seeking a Supervisor, Materials to lead inbound logistics, material movement, and storage for the Richmond, VA facility. You will supervise staff, implement Kanban and visual controls, and drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and raise quality.

Responsibilities include safety, process standardization, KPI tracking, and cross‑functional collaboration with purchasing, finance, and customer service teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environment.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Lean Manufacturing/continuous improvement experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated negotiation and facilitation ability.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Ability to develop cross-functional relationships and interact effectively with others in a team environment.
• Results are oriented, desire and drive for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee inbound shipments, material movement and storage/control of materials.
• Lead staff to meet standard processes and policies.
• Establish continuous improvement processes to reduce costs and improve quality.
• Implement Kanban and other visual management systems for materials.
• Create and train standard work and SOPs to improve processes.
• Ensure safe handling of merchandise and maintain a clean, safe warehouse.
• Manage space, flow, and labor to meet material needs and budgets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify improvement opportunities and implement plans.
• Monitor KPIs and report on departmental performance.
• Address performance issues and develop staff through coaching.
