Job summary

Superior Metals Manufacturing, a CPP company, is seeking a Materials Lab Technician to perform chemical analyses and prep samples for analyses, ensuring metallurgical control and certification. The role offers $25.09/hr, with potential bonuses and full training provided.

Responsibilities include operating lab instrumentation, preparing certifications, identifying alloys, data management, and adherence to NADCAP/ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Education: minimum high school diploma; AS in Material Science or Chemistry preferred.
• Experience: familiarity with casting industry and related lab processes/equipment desirable.
• Language: ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents; ability to write reports.
• Mathematical: ability to apply statistics and mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Computer: proficiency with databases, internet, manufacturing, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Operate lab instrumentation.
• Produce product certifications and identify alloys using lab equipment.
• Recognize results outside allowable specification ranges.
• Troubleshoot and repair lab equipment when possible.
• Maintain data, forms, reports, testing, and communications per work instructions.
• Create and maintain procedures meeting NADCAP, AS9100, ISO17025, and OEM accreditations.
• Maintain test samples and records for master heats.
• Read blueprints, customer specs, industry standards and work instructions.
• Participate in round robin testing internally and externally.
• Maintain testing equipment in the lab.
• Perform report-writing duties for customer deliverables.
• Adhere to safety policies and participate in required shifts including evenings/weekends.
• Work at the Chittenango facility.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision.
